James Bond is one of the longest running and the most successful series in the history of world cinema. Totally 21 Bond films have been released so far and each of these movies have grossed a handsome sum at the box office.

The 22nd Bond movie, with Daniel Craig, is getting ready.

The movie is tentatively titled Bond 22. Meanwhile, talks are on for the 23rd Bond movie also for which the production house is eying an Indian actress to play the sexy and beautiful Bond girl. Many names are being discussed for the role, from Aishwarya Rai to Mallika Sherawat. But the lady who is most likely to bag the offer is the Big Brother fame Shilpa Shetty. The tall and sexy actress has been in the news for quite a while and her fan following has shot up to unattainable standards after the Big Brother fiasco. Some worth mentioning here are an IIFA award; a Super hit Metro, a Doctorate, Rajiv Gandhi award and now this. Shilpa Shetty has also accepted the fact that she has been approached and the talks are on to star in the Bond 23. Enthiran (The Robot) director Shankar’s dream project with Superstar Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai has generated a lot of interest among the fans. Rajini and Shankar who boast of having a superhit formula have grouped in a exceptional team for this Endhiran Movie. Music director A R Rahman and ace cameraman Rathnavelu also form the part of Shankar’s creative team.

The animatronics of the film will be handled by the Stan Winston Studio (USA), which was responsible for the impressive animation sequences in movies such as Predator, Jurassic Park, Pearl Harbor, Iron man and the Terminator, while Mary E Vogt, the well known designer who has worked in Hollywood movies like Men in Black, Batman Returns and Inspector Gadget will be designing the scientific outfits for Enthiran. Stunt director Yuen Woo Ping, who made audiences gasp with his stunts in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Matrix and Kill Bill, will handle the action for the movie.

The movie is being produced by Ayngaran International Films Pvt Ltd., and Eros International.

While she would be much more comfortable in Mumbai discos and Kolkata chaat shops, Tamil filmmakers seem to think otherwise. A village lass in her first film Karuppuswamy Kuthagaitharar, she seems to be getting many more such roles. Meenakshi is currently busy doing films like Perumaal, Rajathi Raja and TN 07 AL 4777. While she plays a village girl in the former, it’s a modern one (“an extrovert, party-going character”) in the latter.

“I relate more to modern characters and wish that I’m given more such roles,” she says. “While I enjoy village-based characters, I would like to experiment more with urban-based roles.”

Having been cast as a village girl, has she ever visited villages? “My grandparents used to live in a village near Kolkata… I love visiting that place!” The actress has a background in theatre and is sure that the experience would help her perform better in Kollywood. “I’ll surely not do a bikini act but am open to glamour roles,” she adds. A trained Bharatnatyan dancer, Meenakshi feels that she is comfortable with dance numbers too. Ask her if she’s interested in doing item numbers and she grins. “Nothing now,” she smiles, “Probably after I’m an established name in the industry!” Now, that’s quite an item!
